Duties & Responsibilities

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in management consulting and/or experience in a socio-economic development setting Working with all levels of government and traditional communities (advantage).
Working knowledge of all levels of government and traditional communities (advantage).
Understanding of contract administration for large-scale infrastructure projects.
Understanding and experience with local government and social dynamics in communities
Understanding the legislative context for community development and participation
Recognize the significance of the infrastructure sector to economic growth and development
Ability to translate and analyze data to generate actionable strategic suggestions
Create strategies and plans, and advise clients on the possible impact of identified major development pillars.
Understanding the Local Economic Development strategy as a development aid
Strong knowledge of the SMME sector and its associated challenges
Strong social and economic analysis abilities
Excellent stakeholder engagement abilities
Excellent knowledge of monitoring and evaluation structures and methodologies
Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to present to large groups and executives.
Excellent writing skills, especially the ability to draft SED proposals.
Strong project management skills
Research and analysis of socioeconomic and economic trends, both quantitative and qualitative.
Participation of stakeholders from the public and commercial sectors
Organize focus groups, interviews, and meetings.
Create and manage projects to achieve socio-economic development objectives and targets.
Design, development, management, and delivery of different customer project outcomes, sometimes concurrently or overlappingly

Manage project team workflow and contributions, as well as external consultants as needed.
Conduct social baseline research and make sure that adequate social mitigation plans are developed.
Direct the monitoring and assessment milestones toward the desired impact.
For compliance purposes, guide the implementation of a local economic participation plan within the context of research-led initiatives.
Contribute to the continuous market presence of the Clients DAI directorate, including participation in the team’s strategy implementation and client development.
Contribute to the creation, standardization, and execution of internal operational procedures, such as those related to project management, knowledge management, and service delivery.
Lead internal and external knowledge-sharing and thought-leadership activities; conceptualize and implement market-shaping research initiatives

Desired Experience & Qualification

A bachelor’s degree in Economics and/or Development Studies is required (Masters’s Degree is preferable). Candidates with Civil Engineering degrees and Contracts Management experience will be considered.
