RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be in charge of, but not restricted to:
  • Together with the management team of Future Africa, develop, carry out, and coordinate a communications strategy and work plan;
  • Create and/or revise content for all Future Africa events and activities in accordance with the plans and objectives of both Future Africa and the University;
  • assist Future Africa Campus Operations, Project Leads, and Research Chairs with communications, including branding and marketing;
  • Ensure that all branding, marketing, and communications are in compliance with and follow all applicable guidelines established by the University of Pretoria;
  • Together with the management team of Future Africa, develop, carry out, and coordinate the multimedia strategy for the organization, encompassing print, internet, social media, and broadcast;
  • By collaborating with all stakeholders and service providers, create chances and materials to promote Future Africa’s reputation, image, and revolutionary research/transdisciplinary agenda;
  • Continually update and report to the Future management team on relationships connected to the communications functions, both within and externally;
  • Find potential newsworthy media opportunities, such as articles, blogs, editorials, opinions, and stories that include Future Africa leaders and experts to improve the organization’s brand and image as well as the agenda for transformative research and transdisciplinarity;
  • Together with the management team of Future Africa, create marketing and media budgets, and make sure all projects’ and operations’ expenses stay under budget;
  • oversee and organize the Future Africa website, including the relationships with vendors, the content, and the networks and participation of stakeholders;
  • Create a strategy for the expansion of Future Africa’s communications department, complete with a communications team that is in line with the organization’s growth trajectory, and perform any other tasks delegated by Future Africa management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant a three-year bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, public relations, or a similar field;
  • 4 years minimum of experience in marketing, public relations, or the media;
  • managing interactions with organizations and other parties and involving stakeholders;
  • a driving permit that is current.
