- MIDVAAL LOCAL MUNICIPALITY INVITES SUITABLE CANDIDATES TO APPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING VACANCY:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage professional, technical, financial, analytical, and administrative responsibilities related to the management and coordination of Water and Sanitation Services.
- Taking over responsibility for wastewater treatment facilities, water services, and sanitation services.
- Overall Management of the Water and Sanitation Sections’ fleet of vehicles and equipment
- Control over the mechanical department to ensure a well-serviced fleet of vehicles and equipment for the long term.
- Project Administration
- Carry out all key departmental responsibilities in compliance with legislative requirements.
- Examines, verifies, and recommends payment certificates for contractors and consultants.
- When necessary, ad hoc analysis, projects, tenders, and investigations are conducted.
- Plan and keep emergency plans up to date within the department.
- Tariffs must be determined for budgetary purposes.
- Compile the section’s water and sanitation bylaws and requirements.
- Financial management within the area, as well as asset logistical management
- Management of general staff and administration
- Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and assignments as requested or required from time to time by management (supervisor).
Desired Experience & Qualification
- B-Degree or NQF qualification equivalent (BSc. Or BTech. In Civil Engineering)
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Water and Sanitation Engineering will be advantageous.
- Professional ECSA registration certificate
- A valid driver’s license
- Meet the MFMA’s minimal proficiency standards or qualify for a waiver.
- Experience and skills in project management and financial management
- Competent in the application, interpretation, and enforcement of relevant legislation and policies
- Computer savvy (MSWord, MS Excel, PowerPoint & MS Projects)
- Analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, communication, leadership skills, conceptual skills, presentation skills, conflict, and stress management abilities, negotiating skills, and attention to detail are all required.
- Report writing abilities
- Knowledge of Local Government Supply Chain Regulations is required.
- 10 (ten) years of experience in Civil Engineering and Division Management, including at least 5 (five) years in Senior Management in Water & Sanitation.
