Duties & Responsibilities

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
To find funds through various means, such as charitable contributions, bursaries, sponsorships, and partnership funding, in accordance with the needs and specifications of the NWU.

Important Responsibilities

  • Creation of a Fundraising Plan – Assist management in creating and implementing an integrated strategy for generating money for the benefit of the NWU.
    – Contribute to the creation of initiatives that seek out new donors and encourage existing donors to give more.
  • Prospect Research – In collaboration with management, identify the NWU’s top causes and needs for fundraising.
    – Determine and qualify potential contributors in accordance with the urgent needs and causes while collaborating with the prospect researcher.
    Conduct research on reliable donors, and include pertinent Devman prospect data.
  • – Talk to existing and former contributors to learn about new fundraising prospects as well as any adjustments to the organization, staff, or views of the donors.
    – Constantly search the market for fundraising possibilities that align with the most important needs and causes.
  • Development & Fundraising
    Take responsibility for development and fundraising in relation to designated contributors, needs, and causes by working with management. For each undertaking or purpose designated:
    Create and carry out a plan for account management.
    Determine the internal parties who will be involved in the project’s execution, such as the project leaders.
    To find money that will meet the demands of the NWU, speak with and meet with qualified prospects.
    Create fundraising proposals of the highest caliber and send them to potential donors in cooperation with the proposal writer.
    To guarantee that gifts are received and properly recorded, make sure that the necessary paperwork is provided and that the established procedures, formalities, and permissions are followed.
    Prepare and send donor progress and closure reports on time.
    Ensure that the initiatives, donors, fundraising efforts, and donations received

    Make sure donations are acknowledged as soon as possible.
    Ensure that stewardship initiatives include contributors.

– Cultivation:

  • To enhance corporate contributions, schedule and carry out meetings with current and potential donors.
    Visit existing and potential donors as arranged.
    Plan donor events and campus visits.
    Provide executive management with itinerary suggestions and planning services for national and international fundraising visits and other activities.
    – Take part in creating and implementing a comprehensive communication plan to support fundraising objectives.
    – Contribute data to the creation of reports for the university’s management and governance bodies.
  • Engagement of Internal Stakeholders
    – Constantly interact with internal stakeholders (staff and students) to learn about their needs for fundraising and to provide the assistance and instruction required.
    – Contribute to the creation of resource mobilization templates, processes, and tools that will help and empower staff and students.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Marketing, public relations, business management, or a related field with an honors degree (NQF8) (essential)
    six years of fundraising expertise (essential)
  • 4 years of experience working in higher education (desirable)
  • 5 years of experience establishing and maintaining connections with key stakeholders in academia, funding, business, and government (essential)
