Technical Officer (Job Level 10)

Duties/Pligte

  • using a variety of soldering, mounting, and manufacturing techniques to create and fill printed circuit boards (PCBs);
  • providing staff and students with specialized support for PCB manufacture and soldering;
  • giving help on circuit design and soldering to undergraduate and graduate students;
  • maintaining and running the equipment and facilities used to manufacture PCBs and solder;
  • Materials, tools, and components used in soldering and PCB manufacture are managed as assets and inventories.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
  • matriculation (or the NQF level 4 equivalent, the National Senior Certificate);
  • Engineering-related N2 Diploma (or NCV at NQF Level 2 or similar);
  • a minimum of five years of technical expertise, particularly in electronics soldering, in support of an academic Matric;
  • the capacity and readiness to pick up new abilities and pursue new training;
  • the capacity to operate both individually and together.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
  • Relevant NCV at NQF level 3 or higher, or an N3 engineering diploma;
  • experience with electricity or electronics;
  • appropriate knowledge of PCB design tools, such as Altium (or KiCad).
