  • UNISA is known for offering fair and equitable access to higher education possibilities. As a result of its societal commitment to correct historical imbalances, Unisa has created an application and selection method that successfully addresses historical imbalances while maintaining quality standards.
  • To maximize the prospects of success for all students, this approach promotes a focused emphasis on improved student aid and the coordination of our new student intake with existing academic capacity and infrastructure.

What is involved in the selection procedure?

  • The computation of your unique points score, which takes into account your final Grade 12 scores as well as other crucial characteristics such as your gender, socioeconomic group, race, and so on, is at the heart of the selection process.
  • Please confirm that you meet the statutory and college-specific admission standards, as well as the required academic points score (APS) for your chosen qualification, before submitting an application (s). A higher certificate requires an APS of 15, a diploma with an APS of 18, and a bachelor’s degree with an APS of 21 or higher (some exceptions apply).
  • It is critical to know that you will not be approved to study at Unisa in the first semester of 2024. Students will be accommodated according to the number of available slots for each qualification.

The procedure for applying:

  • You may apply for up to two qualifications, in the order of preference (although you may only register for one should both of your qualifications be successful).
The conclusion of your application will be communicated to you by Unisa. If you are successful, Unisa will advise you of the qualification for which you have been authorized, as well as provide you with a place for the time period for which you have applied (ie semester 1).
You must accept or reject Unisa’s offer within the stipulated timeframe. If you fail to meet this deadline, Unisa will withdraw your offer and assign your position to another applicant.
  • One offer may be approved just once. This implies that the other offer will be automatically withdrawn if you accept an offer for one qualification (whether it is your first or second qualification of choice).
If you accept Unisa’s offer, you must enroll for the duration of the admission period (ie semester 1). You must reapply for admission during the subsequent application period if you don’t enroll in the proper semester of study.
